The first protection stage is FLASHTRAB, a lightning current arrester with arc chopping spark gap, that is installed in the central power supply of the building as the most powerful protective device. Surge voltages are limited to < 4 kV with these standard protective devices. From a technical point of view, the best position for installation is directly after the incoming main feeder box.
FLASHTRAB FLT PLUS-CTRL
FLT PLUS-CTRL is a triggered blowout spark gap with additional quenching plates in a housing with two terminal pitches (2 div.). This arrester type is used in power supplies in industrial plants as well as in separate switching systems. Substantially higher nominal line follow currents occur than in the power supplies of residential buildings and industrial enterprises in housing areas. This protection device is designed accordingly. FLT PLUS CTRL-/I also has a function display. This signals whether the triggering electronics are functioning, thus also indirectly monitoring the functioning of the spark gap.
